ps. very sorry for the technical difficulties with the cut - it was only for a few seconds, I hope I didn't spoil anyone!

So I've been reading on my flist that there's been some weird internet magic that allows people to publish lj posts to facebook and twitter - more importantly, they can do this with OTHER people's lj posts (when they comment on that person's post and crosspost their comment to facebook and/or twitter)

I know I probably don't have to say this, because you guys are all super awesome and have common sense, but as you know this is my fandom journal and when I talk about my real life it's pretty personal. I'm very happy with my home on livejournal and don't want any of the content in my journal to inadvertantly be shared on facebook and twitter when someone comments on one of my journal entries. Please DO NOT share any comments on my journal on facebook or twitter.

(Post edited because I was confused by how that whole process worked to start with! XD)

Back to your previously scheduled fanfic! Or whatever you're up to. &hearts

Big news!

Okay, well, kind of big news. I AM EXCITED, ANYWAYS. =D

The posting schedule for the [livejournal.com profile] deancasbigbang is up and my fic will go up on the third day! =D (Oh dear god *hyperventilates*)

Here is the summary I provided for the art claims:

Title: The Definition of Perpetual Motion
Author: [livejournal.com profile] elsewhere_kels | Artist: [livejournal.com profile] haraism

Pairing/s: Dean/Cas, Sam/Jess, some implied side-pairings.
Warnings (if applicable): Trigger warnings for discussion of depression, mental illness, and past sexual and psychological abuse of minors. AU with no Supernatural stuff.
Summary: Dean Winchester was doing all right. He had a good job, friends (Lisa and Ben, two people makes it plural), he slept at least 3 times a week. He got by. Then he gets a call from Sam in the middle of the night. Sam isn't all right, and it turns out he hasn't been for a long time. Dean's little brother has no memory of the last four years of his life and only pieces of years before that, and all Dean can think of is how he smiled as he waved Sam-who-wasn't-Sam off to college. Sam doesn't want to take over Dean's life, but he doesn't know where else to turn and Dean is the safest place he knows. Dr. Castiel Novak is "a bleeding heart" according to his collegue and friend (this relational fact continually baffles) Gabriel and he's beginning to realize that neither of the brothers have gotten through their experiences unscathed.

So mark your calendars! My big bang is released to the world on October 5th. One day before my birthday, even!

*dances and then runs off to write like a madwoman*

I have too much on my plate right now to put up an offer, but on the off chance that any of you HAVEN'T heard about this comm yet, here is a signal boost for it!

I know I'm going to be doing some bidding once I'm less brain dead and am able to even conceive of how the delicious bidding process works. ^_^

20119 / 20000 words. 101% done!

The fic is no where near done, but I qualify for an artist, and the rest should be a cake-walk compared to this! *knocks on wood*

Never ending love to my beta [livejournal.com profile] icelily01 and [livejournal.com profile] ratherastory for all their support in this - I would not have succeeded if it weren't for you both! <333333333 *less than three times infinity SEE I KNOW MATH*

This is me, right now:

17165 / 20000 words. 86% done!

Approximately 3000 more words tomorrow night, and I will be golden! =D Not done the whole story, of course, but I'll have my first draft in, my summary put up for an artist to choose, and the bulk of my fic finished!

It's been an okay night. =D (lol, I'm going to be tired at work tomorrow... whatever!)

Originally posted by [livejournal.com profile] kiwiana at Teen Raped After Being Used by School as "Bait"
If a high school student goes to administrators to report that she and another teenage girl were raped by a boy at the school, you might think that the immediate course of action would be to keep the survivors safe while investigating the allegations. But a student at Upper St. Claire High School is suing her school district for using her as bait, which resulted in her being raped a second time.

It's possible that the principal had watched The Sting a few too many times and thought that he could launch his own tricky operation. Even so, to put a sexual assault victim in the path of her rapist seems like an absurd level of endangerment — except that Principal Michael Ghilani didn't believe that he was dealing with a rape survivor. Instead, he turned the rape victims into guilty parties, deciding that student were having consensual sex on school premises after hours, and he wanted them all caught.

Instead of having the girls safely escorted to their bus, as the teacher to whom the crime was first reported wanted to do, Principal Ghilani kept them on school grounds and tasked the school police to follow them — in order to see if they went somewhere to have sex, rather than to watch out for their well-being. The police apparently thought everybody had gone home, but were mistaken, since two girls reported being raped in the stairwell that afternoon.

Why the principal would think that the girl would report on herself having consensual sex is beyond me. In the school district's attempt to defend its gross negligence, it argued that these girls were just jealous of other girls having sex with the boy in question. The boy himself, by the way, has pleaded guilty to sexual assault, although not to rape, and faces up to four years imprisonment.

Cara writes on the Curvature, "I’m honestly not even sure which facet of this case I find most appalling — the lesson that if you report being raped to your school, they’ll use you as a method to catch other students doing allegedly naughty things rather than protecting you; or the lesson that if you report being raped to your school, they’ll respond to their own culpability in the situation by telling the national media that you wanted it, anyway."

The lawsuit further states that the school knew that the boy was sexually harassing and assaulting girls the month before this incident took place, but did nothing. The school also failed to report any rapes occurring for the year's Safe Schools Report, which suggests that the administrators might have chosen to perceive the attacks as consensual in order not to have to admit the lack of safety in their hallways. Why guarantee the security of your students when you can just present the appearance of security?

Ahahahaha - ha - *ahem* for those of you who already know me well... I'm sure the complete lack of update or mention of said lack for this meme is no surprise to you. For those of you who are new to my lj habits... I kind of suck royal hippogriff at keeping up with memes. Rather than tossing a whole bunch of days together to catch up in this post - we are just going to pretend that no time has passed! =D

Day 05 - Your favourite episode

I my answer could change once I've watched all of the episodes, but at this point in time it is a tie between Mystery Spot and Jus in Belo. Both those episodes, to me, are so well contained within themselves and just... beyond well done. I feel pretty weird saying that I enjoyed watching Dean die over and over, but that episode was an incredible look into Sam's development and mindset, and Dean trying to comfort Sam about everything when it was all so much bigger than both of them (and Dean, stuck in the one day without Sam's frame of reference, couldn't even hope to grasp this)... just incredible.

I wish I could explain in more detail why I love Jus in Belo, but I can't. Sorry. XD

First of all, some of you might have guessed this because I've already podficced two of this author's stories, but pretty much ANYTHING Chash AKA [livejournal.com profile] poor_choices (her fic journal is [livejournal.com profile] longsufferingly) writes is probably going to be an insta-rec from me. She is just... amazing. Every time I read something of hers I will probably laugh at SOME point. Or I'll cry. Or I'll just be left breathless and gleeful. Or all three. I couldn't read this last fic of hers without reccing it, though...

Any time someone asks me what my favourite books are, "The Giver" by Lois Lowry is on that list. So actually if you haven't read it you should read that first. It is one of the most affecting books of my whole life, I love it so much.

This fic, since feeling is first, has MAJOR spoilers for "The Giver" so don't spoil yourself if that kind of thing bothers you! It is a J2 au set in that universe, but it is much more than a creative new way to have j2 smut. It is an absolutely beautiful tribute to Lois Lowry's creation, and a stunning imaginary addition to the universe. It's kind of my headcanon for "The Giver" after everything. I love the exploration of the changes that occur in the community and the way it affects these characters, and Chash has honoured the tone and writing style of the novel so well... it's just the best thing ever. EVER.

P.S. I promise to get back to the Supernatural meme eventually!
